"My daughter used to shut down whenever she got frustrated. After reading a few chapters together she actually came to me and said 'I think I'm feeling overwhelmed, can we talk?' I genuinely didn't expect a book to do that."

"My son refused to read anything. This one he finished in three days and asked for another. The characters actually feel like kids his age - not a lecture dressed up as a story."

"I'm a third grade teacher and I started keeping a copy in my classroom reading corner. Within a week three different kids had come to me referencing a story from it to explain how they were feeling in an argument with a friend. That's the kind of transfer you spend years trying to build - this book just does it naturally."

    Isabella W

HOW MANY STORIES DO THEY GET?

50 complete stories, organized into 10 essential life skill categories — covering everything from handling friendship drama to managing big feelings to making tough choices. Every story stands alone, so you can read in any order based on what your child needs right now. Plus 3 bonuses: digital flipbook versions of every story, 5 bonus stories on Communication & Self-Expression, and 5 bonus stories on Problem-Solving & Decision-Making.

THIS BOOK VS. OTHER CHARACTER BOOKS

Most books preach. This one shows. Instead of telling kids what to do, every story follows real kids navigating real situations — so children draw their own conclusions and actually remember the lessons. No worksheets, no lectures, no talking down. Just stories written from a child's perspective, with reflection questions that spark conversation rather than test knowledge.

    About The Author

Claire Monroe has always believed that the best lessons in life don't come from lectures — they come from stories. As a parent herself, she watched children tune out whenever adults tried to explain feelings, consequences, or how to treat others. So she set out to do something different. The Secret Playbook of Life Lessons was written to give kids the one thing most character books forget — stories that actually feel like their life. Real friendships. Real mistakes. Real emotions. Claire wrote every story from the ground up with one question in mind: would a child actually want to keep reading? The result is a book that doesn't just sit on a shelf. Kids come back to it. Parents use it to start conversations they didn't know how to begin. And somewhere in the middle of a story about a kid who didn't know how to say sorry, or a child who was scared to try again — something shifts.

    Why Read This Book?

Most character books talk at kids. The Secret Playbook of Life Lessons talks to them.

Every story follows a real kid in a real moment — the argument that went too far, the friend who felt left out, the day everything felt too hard. No moralizing. No adult voice telling them what to think. Just a story that unfolds the way life actually does, with a kid who figures it out and a lesson that lands because they felt it themselves.

Whether you read it together at bedtime or your child picks it up on their own, each story does something most parenting books can't — it gets inside a child's world and makes them feel understood. That's when the growth happens. Not because you told them to be kinder or braver, but because they saw themselves in a character who was.

50 stories. 10 life skills. One book they'll actually want to come back to. 📖✨

    YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!
    • "I was at my wit's end with my son's anger. Every little thing set him off and I didn't know how to reach him. A friend recommended this book and honestly I was skeptical — he's not a big reader. But something about the characters clicked with him. He started pointing out when he recognised himself in a story. Now when he's frustrated he'll actually stop and say 'I need a minute' instead of exploding. That's not something I taught him. The book did."

      Jack T.

    • "We homeschool and social-emotional learning is always the hardest part to teach intentionally without it feeling forced. This book solved that problem completely. We read one story, talk about it, and move on. My kids don't even realise it's 'learning.' It's just story time. The reflection questions at the end of each story are worth the price of the book alone."

      Brianna L.

    • "I'll be honest — buying a feelings book for my son wasn't exactly my first instinct."I'll be honest — buying a feelings book for my son wasn't exactly my first instinct. But my wife suggested it and I figured I'd give it a shot. We started reading it together on weekends and I wasn't expecting much. What actually happened was my kid started opening up in ways he never had before. Not in a forced, let's-talk-about-our-emotions way. Just naturally, through the stories. He'd finish a chapter and go 'Dad, I did that once' and we'd end up talking for twenty minutes. That's not something I knew how to start on my own. This book did it for me."

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

HOW IS THIS BOOK DIFFERENT FROM OTHER KIDS' BOOKS?

Most character books lecture. This one tells stories. Instead of an adult voice explaining how to feel or behave, every story follows a real kid in a real situation — a falling-out with a friend, a moment of self-doubt, a choice that wasn't easy. The lesson lands because your child feels it through the character, not because someone told them what to think. No worksheets, no moralizing — just 50 stories written from the inside of a child's world.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I SEE A DIFFERENCE?

Most parents notice small shifts within the first few weeks — a calmer reaction to frustration, a more thoughtful response in a conflict, or a child who suddenly has words for feelings they couldn't name before. Every child is different, but the stories are designed to work quickly because they meet kids where they already are. There's no build-up, no programme to follow. Read a story, have a conversation, and watch what starts to change.

      check_box

WILL MY CHILD ACTUALLY WANT TO READ IT?

That's exactly what we set out to solve. Every story is short, fast-moving, and written with vocabulary and situations kids in this age range genuinely recognise. Parents regularly report that their child — including ones who "don't like reading" — ask for more stories before bed. Each one stands alone, so there's no pressure to read in order. They can pick up wherever they feel like it, which keeps it feeling like a choice, not a chore.

      check_box

      WHO IS THIS BOOK FOR?

This book is for any child who has ever said "I can't," "nobody likes me," or "it's not fair" — and the parent who didn't know how to respond. It's written for early readers and works equally well as a parent-child read-aloud or independent reading. Whether your child is dealing with friendship struggles, big emotions, or confidence issues, there's a story in here that speaks directly to where they are right now.

      check_box

WHY DO PARENTS KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS BOOK?

Because it does something most parenting tools can't — it starts conversations without forcing them. Parents use individual stories as conversation starters when something hard happens at school. Kids revisit favourites when they're facing a similar situation again. It doesn't get read once and shelved. Families come back to it because life keeps throwing new challenges, and somehow there's always a story in here that fits.
